Are newspapers designed for men?

The thought struck me as a friend was commenting on the probability of early elections, a topic that I had overlooked though I read the newspaper everyday. It was not a conscious decision; I just did not register its presence. It could be because I am not interested in politics. But it could also be because news papers are very male-centric.

Could it be that women respond to a different layout, different kinds of headlines and different images? There is certainly a huge market for magazines targeted at women but the content is very womanly. The handful newspapers targeted at women are either entirely based on gender issues or are fortnightly magazines in the form of papers.

How about a regular newspaper with different design elements that will interest women more? It will have all the regular news except for perhaps a smaller sports section, an extra personal care or women in news section; only, the news will be represented differently. More images could be used. The layout can be based on behavioral studies on women. The content representation can be drafted based on the information needs of women.

The surge of women oriented products in the market starting from Scooty pep to the all women Standard Chartered bank at Calcutta proves one thing; that women are carving out an identity for themselves. With the growing decision making power of women and more and more women joining the business world, the women herald could just be the next big thing. Especially given the marketing dollars that are targeted at women, marketeers are forever on the lookout for effective media that can target women on a regular basis. The Woman Herald could target either career women or housewives depending upon the content.

Couples usually become so comfortable with each other, life becomes a routine and that makes the marriage boring. They forget how to have fun and add spice to their marriage to keep it fresh and exciting. You have to remember that whatever you say, however you gesture your hands, arms, head, and eyes, women are NOT taking your movements at face value. If she jokes with you and you lightly push her away as if to say "Stop", she’s taking that simple gesture as something more: interest, dis-interest, enjoyment, annoyance–any of a million different signals. She’s reading it for further suggestions as to what kind of guy you are, and what your interest in her is.

In short: Know that with body language, girls are always reading the way you move and act!

In my multimedia attraction course, I detail seven proven ways to make a girl's heartbeat flutter and send her your way! It's top-notch stuff, for top-notch seduction.

For now, let’s look at each in more detail:

1. The confident eye gaze

This is how you start your interest. Nothing shows confidence off the bat like meeting a girl’s eyes, and KEEPING YOUR STARE. If you see her look down and smile, you know you’ve made it and the time to approach is now. If she looks away from you but doesn’t smile, give her a shot nonetheless; just the fact that she met your eyes for a second or two shows interest.

2. The Dale Head Drop

It’s often overlooked, but nothing communicates happiness, confidence, and interest in a girl all in one like a nice big smile. Show the girl you’re in control, show her you’re confident, show her you’re a fun guy to be around: brighten the place up with a big smile! And if your teeth need work, then get them fixed! It’s good not just for your chances of meeting a girl, but also for your health and appearance!

4. Open Body Language

So many guys walk or sit with their arms crossed, their legs close together, and their faces anxious and flat. Stop that! Welcome a girl into your world: Have your arms open and leaned back, your legs open and relaxed, your face warm and inviting. You’ll not only attract yourself into a girl’s world, but also into the world of people at a party, club, or bar who can help you meet a future girlfriend–or even wife!

5. Lean back her

7 Things That Women Want (and How to Give It to Them!)

It’s a question every guy asks himself, every guy struggles with at some point or another, every guy desperately wants to know the answer to:

WHAT DO WOMEN WANT?

The answer isn’t easy to come by. There are as many answers as there are types of women: young, old; fat, skinny; talkative, quiet; beautiful…not so beautiful. They all want different things, different men for their different personalities. It’s enough to drive a man crazy! We want to know so badly what it is women desire that Hollywood addressed the age-old question with the movie "What Women Want" (which, I’m embarrassed to say, I enjoyed).

So, surely…there must be something ALL women want?

That’s the good news: There are certain qualities every woman can appreciate. And the best part is, these qualities aren't necessarily what we think they are. Maybe we think being 6'5", wealthy, and jacked like a football player is what every woman wants, but (thankfully) it’s not. Only certain women want that, and the groupies who only want a millionaire athlete on steroids usually aren’t even worth your time.

It’s better to focus on the girls YOU really want: the girls who make you feel good, and make you a better man. Empower yourself with a sense of choice, so that you don’t waste your time (and theirs) hitting on girls who don’t fit with your personality and purpose. The great news is, if you can provide the basic qualities that all women REALLY desire, then getting the girl of your dreams will be easy!

So let’s look at some things we can safely say women want in a man–regardless of his size, regardless of his looks, regardless of his wealth.

1. Higher value. That is, women want to know that their man is someone other women would want. They want a certain "gotta have" quality about their man. This is why, when we go out with a girlfriend, women give us looks and always seem more interested. It’s annoying but true: the easiest way to get a girl, is to have one already!

Naturally, that doesn’t mean that you should be hitting on girls when you have a girlfriend. No way! But when you are single, it’s important to know how to show value. There’s so much to learn, but in short, you want to be a guy girls love to be around, and that other girls want to have! If you don’t feel like you’re there right now, do your best to be a fun-loving guy who people enjoy being around. Be quick with a smile, and quick with a joke. Even a guy who smiles a lot can be someone girls want. Who doesn’t enjoy being around someone who’s happy, who lifts the mood of the room?

2. A man who needs her…but not too much. This can greatly value from girl to girl, but basically women DO want to feel appreciated. They just don’t want to be obsessed over. Guys, show interest in a woman, and make her feel beautiful and wanted…but don’t slave over her and make her feel like you can’t live without her. That’s just pathetic, and drives women away.

3. A feeling of security. Women want to feel safe with a man. They want to know that everything’s gonna be all right. This doesn’t mean you have to be huge and strong, or have millions in the bank. It just means you have to talk reassuringly to her, look after her safety, and assure her when she needs it that things are going to be OK.

It also means coming to her protection, when she needs it. If someone is being a jerk to her, stand up for her. If she’s being threatened, fight for her. Let her know that you will fight for her, and nothing will get in your way.

4. A guy who’s in shape. Okay, I said that you don’t have to be a professional rugby player to attract women, but that doesn’t mean you should let your body slide! Part of a woman’s evolutionary mechanism says that a man who is strong will protect her and the children, as well as produce strong children. Likewise, a man who is weak will produce weak children, and not be able to protect the family as well (if at all) It may occur subconsciously, but it’s there.

So show her your value by being a guy who’s well-built, healthy, and athletic. Join a gym, not just to get women but to improve your health and the way you see yourself. Join a martial arts class–who doesn’t like a guy who can kick some ass? You’ll feel better about yourself, making it easier to pick up girls, and her mating drive will only naturally attract her to you. It’s a win-win situation!

5. Someone who’s not boring. Doesn’t matter how good looking you are…if you bore a woman to tears, she’s not gonna stick around–or even give you a chance, for that matter. Be someone who smiles. Someone who’s quick with a laugh. Someone who doesn’t take life too seriously, who lets loose. That shows a lot more value than a guy who’s stiff and serious–even if he is good looking or wealthy. Believe me, there are lots of guys who have money, who have good looks–but are single, because they’re dull and not fun to be around.

6. Someone who’s good with her friends. You’ve seen it at bars: girls always look to their friends for their approval. Get their friends’ approval, and you get the girl’s approval.

Oftentimes it’s actually best to concentrate on getting to know the girl’s group of friends before you spend time talking to her. If you can make her friends laugh and enjoy your company, getting the girl you want will be a piece of cake!

I really like this piece of advice from Joseph Matthews, aka Thundercat, author of The Art of the Approach, in his excellent free e-newsletter: "Meeting women when they are with their friends is WAY easier than waiting for when they are alone! This is because women with friends feel safe and relaxed, so their defenses aren’t up."

Furthermore, he warns that you’re not doing your chances any favors by waiting til she’s alone: "If you wait until she’s by herself to meet her, you’re walking into a situation where she’s going to be WAY more defensive than usual." So learn to be sociable, and just have fun with her friends! If you can make them enjoy your company, getting your "target’s" approval will be a piece of cake.

This is also where it’s good to go with girls in the same social network as you…you already have the approval of mutual friends. The book, Sex in America, says that 60% of married couples meet through friends, work, or mutual activities. That's pretty impressive! So it pays to use and expand your network. Finally, the trait all women REALLY want: 7. A man with a purpose. Believe me, women don’t expect every guy they meet to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, have more power than the mayor, and be more handsome than Brad Pitt. They don’t expect you to be wildly successful. But they DO want you to be headed towards success. They DO want you to have direction. They DO want you to be living up to your potential.

And those aren’t bad expectations to have! Remember, "Behind every great man is a great woman." You may not be at the top just yet, but as long as you’re heading there, with goals in life, you’re bound to attract women. They WANT to help you reach the summit. Just show some potential, and that is attractive in itself.

I highly suggest you read "The Way of the Superior Man," by David Deida. It details the importance of having a life purpose, both for you and for your girlfriend or wife. The book also explains the very important idea that if someone doesn’t fit into your purpose, or detracts you from it, then she isn’t worth your time. As I said above, don’t just go for any old girl: go for the ones who fit YOU, and who make YOU a better person. That’s what we men should really want!

I hope all of this advice helps you out as you seek to improve yourself and attract the women who matter to you. Remember that it isn’t important to know what the bimbo who wants to spend all your money wants: it’s important to know what women who want to be with you want. Attracting Women Online: The Correct Way

Online dating can be a very efficient way of meeting new, sexy and interesting women. But if you don't know the right things to do when communicating with women on dating sites, it can get very difficult to meet the kind of women you want. I'm going to outline a few tips here to ensure that you succeed and get a steady stream of women wanting to meet you.

Your screen name is your "first impression" in meeting women online. When making up your screen name to register with an online dating service, spend as much time as you need to come up with a good screen name. Your screen name is, just like your photo, one of the most important factors that will determine your success with women online.

It is very important when writing your profile to be a little bit cocky but playful when describing yourself. You see, women are drawn to very confident (but not arrogant) men. This will INSTANTLY set you apart from all the other "clueless" men out there trying to meet women online.

For example, instead of saying "I am a 24 year old guy. I love mountain climbing, reading books and clubbing in my spare time. My favourite food is lamb chops", e.t.c. you should say something like this instead:

"Why does everybody keep asking me how old I am? Bunny boiling stalkers everywhere I go! But if you're not a stalker and you're good looking, then I definitely WANT to hear from you. I'm 24 years old. (sshhhh! Don't tell anyone!) I hate hobbies, why does everyone have to have hobbies? But having said that, I once took a salsa dancing class, it was in Southern Spain, glorious sunshine, fine surroundings and impressive dance hall. The only problem was I couldn't understand a damn thing the teacher was saying. I'd signed up where it said 'Spanish Students Only.' If you can do the salsa, I want another teacher, and please speak English too. A nice looking girl, not a stalker, can do the salsa, speaks English, Ohhh, absolute heaven!!"

Do you see the difference? Which profile do you think looks more interesting and is more likely to get a response from a lot of women online? You guessed it, "Mr Salsa". Now, you may think that by "cutting out" the girls who don't dance the salsa, I'm limiting my response rate, but you'd be surprised at what this kind of pre-qualifying or selectiveness does for my success rate with women online.

Now, here's a tip on how to get a girl to have "steamy cyber sex" which might even sometimes lead to full sex, if you play your cards right with her. As you're chatting with a woman, (and this works best if you're discussing a fun topic like physical hobbies or games in a playful way), you ask her if she's ever had an online "massage." Whatever her answer, you can then begin to describe why YOUR massages are the best and what you would do to her if you were there massaging her.

Now, it is extremely important to NOT get too graphic with your language and description too soon after you start the "massage" talk. Let it just be purely about massaging and wait for HER to be the one to escalate the flirting into a direction where you can get more sexual. Remember, you don't want her to think you're some freaky pervert. You're trying to demonstrate CLASS, but in a way that will get you fantastic results with women online.

It’s More than the Job: Women and Workplace Stress!

Stress in the workplace has become a occupational health and safety risk worldwide, including the U.S. Debate centers around who is responsible for illness related to stress if the workplace is contributing. Research shows that a majority of work-related stress is borne out of attrition and the requirement for more in less time by employees. Our own culture of speed, convenience, and instant gratification also drives our stress reactions.

Is women’s workplace stress different than that of men’s?

Since stress, by definition, is the body’s response physiologically and psychologically to a “dangerous situation”, it stands to reason that what is perceived as dangerous in the work place is very individual. Research shows that women’s stress in the workplace is related more to lack of balance and demands of home and work combined, and men’s workplace stress related more to the job.

Research also shows that women in relationships do greater than 60% of household maintenance and childcare. Divorced and single women, living alone, more than likely have 80-100% of childcare responsibilities as well as the household chores. Consequently, women are likely to have obstacles finding time for their own stress reducing self-care. Women are more likely to arrive to work, stressed before their workplace demands begin.

Perceived locus of control is one area proven to be a predictor of stress. Therefore a woman working in an environment with little flexibility or choice would be a greater risk of distress than a climate of no-voice. Would it stand to reason that women therefore, that women with their own businesses would be less stressed than those working for someone else? Interestingly, women’s stress issues do not vary significantly. Women are multi-taskers by nature and enfold tasks within tasks. Work, family and home are not separate and the issues around balance prevail regardless of working for yourself or someone else. Women who own their own business have the same childcare and home issues as their sisters who are working for someone else. However, women, working in their own business are likely to be pursuing a passion and adopt a mindset that allows a positive attitude.

So, what some ways that woman can reduce work place stress?

1. Recognize that stress is a killer and not to be taken lightly.

Stress related illnesses are the leading cause of death and disability in women today. Recognition is the first step in any change process.

2. Take real breaks from work.

If your business requires that you be on the job at “normal” lunch times or other break times, make sure that you find time at other times in the day. Studies show that small breaks actually increase our efficiency, so you really can “afford” it. Walking outside can work wonders. Have a pair of walking shoes on site.

3. What, in your work environment, are you “tolerating” and allowing for on-going stress?

Cluttered space, equipment that needs repaired, lack of organization, tasks that need to be delegated, noise level, ergonomically unhealthy workplaces, and any number of other tolerations are worth the effort to resolve.

4. Communicating cleanly and assertively is a great way to reduce stress by addressing boundaries, expectations and needs in the workplace.

Women, many times, communicate on an emotional level. Unfortunately, with this sort of communication, the real message is lost in the feeling versus the doing.

5. Caffeine, by its very nature, causes a physiological stress response.

How much coffee or high caffeine soft drinks do you consume at work? Take steps to reduce or cut out caffeine all together. Increase your water intake.

6. Eat a good breakfast.

Studies show that eating breakfast is one of the healthiest habits we can adopt. Our bodies and brain has been without carbohydrate fuel for 12 hours or more. Time to fill up. Smoothies are great ways to get a great boost on the go. Yogurt, fruit, juice and a blender and you can start your day with protein, good carbohydrate, calcium and vitamins. Add some linseeds/flaxseeds and you have fiber and phytoestrogens too. All are significant for women’s good health!

7. Ideas you might like to try at the work place for stress reduction.

Calming oils of floral scents (rose, vanilla, lavender and nutmeg), a tennis ball to roll back and forth under the ball of your foot, and massage an acupressure calm point in the area of the hand between the index finger and thumb.

8. Self-care outside the workplace is of paramount importance for women.

Adequate sleep provides our bodies with chemical balancing and healing at a cellular level. Find out what needs to “give” to get you to bed for 7-8 hrs of sleep. Eating a diet of real food (limit or eliminate additives and chemicals) that fuels our bodies gives us a reserve to run on during stressful time. Exercise, though hard to timetable in our packed schedules is a great stress reducer.

9. Learn ways to relax that are meaningful for you.

This might seem like an obvious, overused, token suggestion. Most women do not really know how to relax. We have been so programmed to look after everything and everyone else. This feeling of responsibility carries over into our work as well. Learning what is relaxing to you is worth the effort. Turn off the T.V. Call a friend. Listen to some relaxing music. Commit to picking up an interest from the past, even if you do it in small steps. Time taken for pleasure will pay off in the long run in work efficiency.

10. Do not stress about reducing stress and make it “another stress”.

Pay attention to you body’s response to situations. What is your self talk? Make an effort to take deep breaths and change on-going negative talk to positive.

Workplace stress through our legislations is becoming an issue for which employers must take notice. However, the current lean operations of business, which is the one of the contextual issues cited for today’s stress, will not go away. For those of us who run our own businesses, we are our own employers. As women, we need to discern what is work stress. As women, we need to acknowledge what we can do for ourselves to reduce stress. We need to remember that old saying, if you don’t look after yourself, no one else will. Honour your self!

Dating Techniques For Over 40s - How to Get a Woman Really Interested in You

It is not easy getting back into dating when you are over 40 because you are a bit out of practice, or then again, maybe you' re one of those guys who only ever dated his childhood sweetheart, in which case you never had much practice and you really do need to learn some dating techniques for over 40s.

Forget about the past. That' s over and done. Now is the time to move forward and turn yourself into an attractive man that women want to be with.

Women will respond to you if you get the techniques right. In fact you have a lot of advantages over younger guys. You have experience. You have spent many years interacting with all types of people throughout your workplace and you have the confidence and know how that only an older man has. So don' t let your age hold you back, all you need to do is fine tune those skills so that you become more attractive to women.

What you mustn' t do is bore the pants off a woman by launching into great detail about your previous relationship which went wrong or by talking at great depth about your hobbies or interests. Women don' t care if you are divorced but they don' t want to feel that you are still in love with your ex or that there could be trouble from her. Talking football or cars may be great with the lads, but honestly the majority of women are not interested in either subject. What you need to do is shut up but don' t clam up. Let her do some talking and be a keen and attentive listener. Women love chatting and if she feels she can open up and relate to you then you are well on the way to her becoming interested in you.

Dating techniques are much the same for over 40s as for younger guys - the key is getting women to respond to you. Young girls may come on to you and this is fine. Don' t worry about what other people think but be careful not to talk down to the girl and definitely do not try and act as if you were 20 something. You may find you have little in common with young girls but finding out is all part of the fun and you can easily move on to women over 40.

The war between the sexes has become a stalemate. Men had been on the offensive by wielding most of the power in relationships for thousands of years, but women had been turning the tide back over the last forty. The result? Now, the two armies have stopped moving. They have completely separated from each other, sitting motionless while staring at each other across a no-man's land of loneliness and broken hearts.

How do I know this? I read the headlines.

A majority of marriageable women are living without husbands. An increasing number of single women are purchasing homes by themselves. The total number of single Americans is also growing. More men say they never want to get married. In Britain, there are more single men than unattached women. Hundreds of websites offer advice for singles ranging from picking up a one-night stand to finding the love of one's life.

More and more dating websites exist for those who are unable to find a partner. (In business parlance, the size of the market is increasing.) There are dozens of blogs on dating on just this one list. Teenagers, college students, and recent graduates are hooking-up rather than forming significant relationships. Men and women are marrying at increasingly older ages -- now twenty-seven for men and twenty-five for women. "Starter marriages" are becoming more common.

Well, what's going on?

First, we need to understand the basic mentalities of men and women in the context of evolutionary psychology. For tens of thousands of years, men were the providers of resources and protection while women took care of hearth and home. Nature programmed men to spread their seed as far as possible while women wanted men to stay and take care of their children. So, society founded the institution of marriage to get men to stay with the children. (I believe there are spiritual aspects to marriage as well, but its practicality cannot be overstated.)

These needs and desires were programmed into our societies -- and our brains -- over millennia. Men and women needed each other because each half of a couple provided things that the other could not. Women wanted men who would provide resources, and men wanted fertile women who would bear and raise their children. Women date up; men date beauty. Forty years of feminism cannot change these subconscious attitudes.

Over the last several decades, however, the roles have changed. Women have become independent, and men have become less necessary. (New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd even wrote a book with that as its title.) The end result -- and the reason for the increasing prevalence of singleness -- is simple. Men and women feel that they no longer need each other, and this attitude is separating men and women.

Feminism's Unintended Consequences

What caused this? Feminism. More specifically, the unintended consequences of feminism. Feminism helped women to overcome their lowly, undeserved status as non-voting citizens whose only duties were to get married and have kids, but like every social movement, it has had effects that no one could have foreseen.

First, we must start with women. After all, women make the choices in the dating game: Women choose which suitors have a chance, but men hit on every single girl above a certain general threshold of attractiveness. When a man makes the "first move," he is usually responding to a subconscious sign of interest that the woman has already sent. This is an important principle. Women make most of the choices in the dating scene because they must be picky: They only have one fertile egg per month, and they literally live with the consequences of sex. Now that women are becoming equal to -- and even surpassing -- men in school and in the workplace, they can take care of themselves. They do not need a provider.

However, this conflicts with the subconscious attitudes that women have. Girls are raised with tales of a perfect Prince Charming who will rescue them. They idolize their fathers (for better or worse, depending on what type of men they were). They are treated like princesses. Most importantly, they have the evolutionary impulse to date up. They want someone amazing. Women, indeed, want it all. (This attitude can lead to more regret later in life when they realize that no one can have it all.)

This desire, however, works against a woman's interests. Women are progressing along a set path -- high school, college, graduate school/career, marriage, and then family -- and only worry about having fun while they are teenagers and twentysomethings. Marriage and family now seem to be burdens to delay as long as possible rather than wondrous joys. The irony of the situation is that women have the greatest chance of attracting a partner before the age of twenty-five, roughly when they are most attractive. Biology, after all, is working against them. There is nothing wrong with getting married in college or graduate school and waiting to have children, but this thought rarely crosses anyone's mind.

Focusing on one's career for a long time also poses another risk. The more successful a woman becomes, the smaller the pool of acceptable men becomes. In other words, successful, career-oriented women price themselves out of the market unless they date men who earn less money or have less education. Authors like Barbara Whitehead complain that there are no good men left, but the reality is simple: Men have not fallen; women have risen. It is hard to "date up," for example, when one graduates from Harvard and works on Wall Street. Many successful women are unhappy because they feel that they must hide their success, or they subconsciously resent their husbands or boyfriends if they earn lower salaries. Feminism, in a nutshell, has made women pickier.

Men Are Scared and Pickier

Now, I'm not only blaming women. Men, too, are at fault. Feminism also made men pickier -- but for different reasons. Advertisers have always used sex to sell products, but one unintended result of feminism is that overt sexuality and pornography have become mainstream. (Pornography, according to one school of feminism, empowers women. I disagree.)

Men are bombarded with images of fake, doctored, unrealistic women in television programs, advertising and pornography. Their standards have become higher, even though the vast majority of men should not reasonably expect to date a Perfect Ten (or even an Imperfect Seven). Still, women have adapted to this trend by looking and acting like porn stars in order to attract men: exposing themselves for Girls Gone Wild video crews; posing in soft-core porn magazines like FHM and Maxim; making out with each other; wearing slutty clothes; and otherwise acting like pieces of meat.

Feminism made men pickier, and it also made pre-marital sex acceptable and common. However, we have now traveled to the opposite end of the spectrum. Men, by allowing their base instincts to take over, have allowed women to degrade themselves rather than be treated respectfully. In the end, women suffer because of the Madonna-Whore Complex: men want to hook-up with these women, but no man would ever marry one of them. Evolution has taught men to value marital fidelity -- from a biological standpoint, a man wants to be confident that his children are, well, his. No guy wants to have sex with the girl whom everyone in the bar has already done. I wonder how many women are now alone because of this sentiment, but I imagine that the Madonna-Whore line is difficult to tread.

The ease with which men can obtain sex is another reason for the lackluster dating scene. Men, as a result of women's liberation, can now have sex with women who are just as promiscuous as they are. Why buy the cow when the milk is free? In fact, an unintended consequence of feminism has been to remove any motivation for men to get married. Men do not need to take care of women. Men can get companionship from his friends. Men can watch sports and play video games on flat-screen televisions. Men can have sex and hook-up with untold numbers of available women (or download free pornography). Men can cook for themselves, or they can order take-out. Men can hire cleaning services.

The only practical reason for marriage, it seems, is to raise children -- but fewer and fewer men have that desire as well. Birth rates in the United States, as well as Western Europe, have been steadily declining. I cannot provide a satisfactory explanation, but it seems that people have generally become more selfish and unwilling over the last several decades to spend their money and time on children. To paraphrase a line from a recent Economist article, I guess clubbing is more fun than changing diapers.

However, there may be darker reasons for an anti-marriage bias among men. Recent hysteria in the United States and Great Britain over sexual predators has led society to view all men as potential criminals who pose threats to children. Men have even had to develop coping strategies as a result, and fewer of them are volunteering to work in education and help children in need. According to several reports, boys also face discrimination at school. I'm not sure that I would feel comfortable raising children in this environment.

Male children may have a harder time at school, but men in general are now told that they are nothing more than idiots and buffoons. Most television commercials and nightly sitcoms portray men (and husbands) as stupid boors and women (and wives) as intelligent and sexy. Women used to be stereotyped as flakes, but now the tables have turned. Perhaps each gender will be treated with respect one day.

My generation, the one that grew up in the seventies and eighties, became known as the Divorce Generation for a reason. This upbringing has interfered, in paradoxical ways, with our searches for spouses. Since we grew up in broken homes, we desperately want to create the stable homes that we never had. At the same time, we are extremely picky because we do not want to choose wrongly and endure a divorce again.

Men, however, fear divorce mainly because the courts are stacked against them. Family law comes from a time when women were dependent on men, so most divorce settlements included alimony and an equal division of assets. (Oh, and ex-wives always seem to get the children.) Despite the fact that men and women can now take care of themselves, women will still receive the house, the children, and half of her ex-husband's salary. In a world in which half of all marriages will end in divorce, can men be blamed if they think that the benefit of marriage is not worth the risk?

Where We Stand

So, after all of the changes that feminism brought to society, this is where the two armies stand. Women are frustrated because their worldly success has hindered their search for the manly provider that their genes and upbringing have told them to want. They are increasingly picky. They feel pressured to act in a hypersexual manner while knowing that most men, in the end, will only marry the Madonna, not the Whore. Women realize that by becoming as independent as possible, they are losing their ability to become part of a codependent couple. Women try to "have it all" -- a full-time career with devoting enough time to raise a family well -- while knowing that it is practically impossible. Women think that all men are lazy slobs at best and potential criminals at worst.

Men believe that they will all get a woman with the looks of a model and the abilities of a porn star, and they do not want to settle for anything less. At the same time, they want a virtuous woman who will raise children properly and create a nice home. Men feel inadequate because they are denigrated in the media, and they are unsure of their place in society because the role that evolution has told them to play -- that of manly provider -- no longer exists. Men see little need for marriage because its benefits can be gained elsewhere, and they stand a fifty-fifty chance of losing their children and half their assets if they were to get married.

Many of the practical benefits of marriage are no longer applicable because both men and women are self-sufficient, so people may be looking primarily for love. While this is a nice thought, anyone who has been in the dating scene for a while knows that it is extremely rare to find someone with whom one immediately "clicks." It is no wonder the people are remaining single for so long. But the longer that people are single and independent, the harder it is for people to compromise, change, leave their comfort zones, and become part of an interdependent couple.

Now, the two armies -- men and women -- are sitting and facing each other across the desolate no-man's land. Each side wants to raise a neutral flag, stop the fighting, and offer terms of negotiation, but each side is too proud to make the first move. They would just rather talk amongst themselves while complaining about the enemy -- it's easier, of course. But no conflict has ever been solved that way.

Picking up women is the same as selling. You do a presentation in order to generate "interest/attraction". When you have created "interest/attraction" you have to test for buying "signals/compliance" by trial closing.

Trial closing is asking her/them to perform specific actions to see how interested and comfortable they are with you. Obviously the more she/them likes you the more compliant.

In order to trial close successfully and eventually succeed. It's important to understand your situation and to adapt.

Tests and objections

You will have objections/tests throughout your presentations. In sales, in order to keep things moving forward you need to handle these objections. When you meet a woman for the first time, you will need to pass her tests as to enable things to keep moving forward. You must connect with her but at the same time hold your ground. (The right balance is important as to many guys come across as stand offish or too keen to make things happen)

Different situations in sales need flexible presentations depending on the type of customer you're selling to. Picking up women is exactly the same. Different presentation skills are needed for different scenarios.

Take the example of Night-time...

In this environment you need to do a heavier statement based presentation. In a night-time environment, the energy is higher, the music is louder and alcohol is present. If you approach women with low energy and use to many interviewing style questions, you may run into difficulty. Simply, this is party time! Adjusting to the situation is important (as in sales) and you need to stand out and make a unique impression.

In sales, when customers get bombarded with the same old approaches from eager sales people, regardless of how good and unique a particular sales person's product or service may be. They will not get a chance to create interest if they cannot break through the initial barriers. The solution in a night-time environment is to exhibit slightly higher energy and add value immediately.

Let's look at the Daytime...

In this environment you don't have to contend so much with higher energy, loud music and alcohol.

As you approach, you do have other barriers to break through, such as the "awkward barrier". ("Why is he talking me and what does he want?").

You must make the daytime approach as natural as possible. You need to come off as a genuine friendly and sociable guy who likes making chitchat with people and meeting women he finds attractive.

This is when a lot more question asking is appropriate as you find out about her and connect.

You will do a more question based presentation and insure that your energy is lower and also matches hers. You must focus on creating comfort and building strong rapport. Understanding the differences in situations is key

As in sales, there is no one key fits all solution. To be successful, you need to adapt to the different situations you find yourself in as to contend with the varying circumstances.

The only way to benefit from this information is to get out there and regularly approach women.

Seducing Women - How to Make Conversation With Women Part 2

If you've been reading all my articles so far (and I hope you have) you will know that last time I started to talk about conversations with women. I only really discussed conversing with women when approaching them. I'm going to go more in-depth now and also move on to talk about conversations on dates and the overlapping issues.

Firstly, telling a compelling story on a date can work just as well as when you are approaching a woman, however, there is one key difference; YOU SHOULD NOT LIE ABOUT A STORY WHEN ON A DATE YOU MAY WANT TO FOLLOW UP ON!

Allow me to explain... You approach a woman, talk to her and create a story to tell her about an incident. She is not going to care at this point whether the story is true or not, she is using the story more to get an idea about YOU more so than actually caring about what you are saying. If you're compelling enough at this stage, she will not care about the story. The story is just a tool, just as it is for you, to see how interesting you can be.

However, if you enter a date with a girl, chances are she is going to begin to feel something for you on some level, whether it be lust, liking you, trust, or whatever. A date is the beginning stage for all of that to take place. If you tell a story like this and the girl is interested in you, chances are she will tell her friends about this cool story you told her so she can brag how interesting the guy she is dating is. If she somehow finds out it is not true, she will look stupid in front of her friends and will most likely be very annoyed. Not a scenario you want happening, unless of course you are in it for a very short-term fling (as this is all it will be).

That is the main difference between telling a story on a date and telling a story when approaching. Another thing to bear in mind when talking to women is avoiding boring or controversial subjects. Some good examples of this are school, work, politics, religion, family (unless you are planning on marrying the girl on the spot), past relationships (see family and replace 'marrying girl' with 'being psychiatrist') and 'what she is looking for in a guy'.

Now, if you are able to turn something in that list from boring to fun, by all means try it. For example, if you want to find out what line of work she is in so that you can playfully make fun of her for it, that is absolutely fine, provided you make it more interesting, i.e. "You work as a Bank-teller? That's cool, so how much cash do you get to keep? Oh, I figured you must be pocketing 10%."

A good conversational technique, as used there, is what is called 'Busting on a woman', which is known in various places as 'Cocky Comedy', 'Busting her balls', 'C & F (cocky and funny) or 'Tease to please'. It's where you take some arrogance and mix it with some humour, or take a compliment and mix it with something not so complimentary; "Nice bag, are you carrying a gun in that thing?" This is a technique that can work when approaching a woman or also on a date, but it can work two ways; Either the girl will be so uptight that she just will not appreciate it at all (which means she likely was not worth bothering with to start with), or she will think 'This is an interesting, funny guy. I'm going to continue talking to him and see if this is an act'.

It's worth noting that a lot of guys who first get into seduction think that busting on a woman is the be-all and end-all of conversation techniques, however it is just one tool in your toolkit and should not be used too often.

If a woman flashes you a smile, consider this to be a welcoming greeting, and as a flirting signal that she is open to you. A woman is well aware that she's sending you a message when she sends a smile your way. Put simply, she's indicating that you're welcome to approach your and get to know her. If she wasn't interested, she wouldn't smile at you. Women work hard every day, believe it or not, to avoid guys they are not attracted to.

Of course there are always exceptions, but typically, women try to relate in a relational manner that is warm and welcoming. Often, this includes conversation that is emotional or highly charged. Husbands don't typically communicate in the same manner because their brains are wired with the goal to fix problems. They tend to react rather than relate. Women need valuable communication that they can usually only get on a regular basis from other females.

Reason Number Two: Connection

Women have an intense desire to connect with others on common issues and common ground. Husbands tend to relate to their wives in terms of goals and accomplishments. Men could not possibly connect to women on this level because they have never experienced these roles. Women love a guy who can handle things around him and one who is confident about just anything. Show a woman that you can make her feel good without being too submissive.

(3) Learn to listen to her and show her that you are interested. Even with your gestures, she can tell if you are interested or not. Most often, guys would argue about them 'listening' but actually look like their minds away from the conversation. Pay attention. Maintain good eye contact and body language while you are conversing.

(4) Do good. Do something good for a neighbor or give a friend a favor. Doing good to others may just attract good people to you as well. Spend time with people who do good to others.

(5) Have fun in your life. Do the things that you enjoy and experience new things. You may be able to attract women who also enjoy what you like. Learn to make people laugh. Women appreciate good humor and men who know how to have fun. Avoid being a boring companion.

(6) Think about the woman you want to attract into your life. Tell your subconscious what you want. I once had a weird observation with some of my friends who kept on telling about the types of guys that they don't like and in the end they married one. So if the rule of the subconscious is continuously telling it what you want, go ahead, tell your subconscious about the woman you want to attract.

The list of the many ways to attract women in your life may not end here but you can start with them. After all, you will be surprised to discover that it is not about sports cars and good looks but how you made a woman feel.

What Do Women Think About Approach Anxiety?

I truly believe that men and women are more alike than different.

As a matter of fact, the more time I spend immersed in the study of what attracts MOTOS (Members Of The Opposite Sex) to one another, the more amazed I become that the genders have such a notoriously difficult time understanding each other.

When you get right down to it, most of the confusion tends to happen because most of us-men and women-have a hard time getting outside of our own heads and considering the perspective of someone else.

And yes, you are inferring correctly: That propensity toward getting stuck in our own headspace is precisely one of those areas that is not particularly "gender-specific".

Once could almost surmise that it's this "similarity" in particular that is exactly what causes us to believe that MOTOS are "impossible to understand". How's that for the Mother Of All Ironies?

No concept better underscores this than what is commonly known as "approach anxiety".

This needs no introduction for 99% of you who are reading this. Since the dawn of time, men have encountered women who interest them sexually...and have collectively clammed up.

Even the most ostensibly fearless men out there fold up and collapse when confronted with the idea of approaching a particularly interesting woman.

In fact, because they often fear the verdict of either being "accepted" or "rejected" by a woman they've pre-approved on sight, the ensuing "contest" which could result in "getting beat by a girl" is too much especially for the "tough guys" among us.

Some of the biggest wusses around hotties I've ever known were U.S. Marines on 1000cc sportbikes. Go figure.

Whatever the exact reason for approach anxiety (e.g. fear of rejection, lack of things to say, "getting beat by a girl", etc.), most men deal with it at least sometime in their lives.

Meanwhile, over in the Land Of The MOTOS, women are typically unaware that approach anxiety even exists...let alone is such a massive limiting factor for the vast majority of men.

You are reading correctly. Most women don't even realize men fear approaching them.

Of course, most of us guys have no idea how women themselves view approach anxiety. They've never bothered to find out. After all, that would have involved walking up to them and asking them, right?

The first time Emily heard the term "approach anxiety", she fully acknowledged that even she had no idea it was going on.

For her, and for every single one of her friends, the automatic assumption had been made that men who don't walk up to them and say "hello" are simply uninterested.

When I explained to these women how very real approach anxiety is to most men, and that a far higher percentage of men around them probably were very interested than they supposed, most of them fell slack jawed.

"Wow. Really? And here I was thinking I just wasn't so attractive after all."

Oh, and for what it's worth, I probably asked 50-75 women about this. Not one of them was rude to me. Not one.

Here's the bottom line, if you can get out of your own head and understand what's really going on inside a woman's for a change, you'll find that an "unfair advantage" has been right under your nose all this time.

All you ever had to do was take it and make it your own.

Women everywhere are watching most men walk right on by and are wondering what's wrong with themselves. I realize this is a preposterous thought to you.

But how could your life change if you put it to the test?

Remember, women follow your lead. If you can walk up to a woman confidently, expecting a positive reception, then she will immediately feel comfortable and positive toward you.

You know-silver car - silver watch - silver hair. Mind you, I draw the line at one of those little four-wheel drive jobs with the yellow wheels and pink upholstery. I've seen a lot
of men driving these fluffy little things and don't tell me they all belong to the wife or girlfriend. "Four-wheel drive off roaders"-they probably couldn't pull you out of bed.

Anyway we all have male and female customers and clients and they do need different handling. If you want to be
successful at selling or negotiating with someone of the opposite sex then please be aware of the differences. Firstly, be you male or female, you've got to look the part. So in order to make that happen you would want to be that man at all times who is closest to triggering their attraction response nonverbally; without having to use words.

Words take time. Words can get in the way. So the fastest way to raise their attraction and pique their interest is to be a man of high character who remains relationally independent to her power.

That means getting them attracted before you even speak to them just from your body language.

This is what I have found to work wonders. If I can get women giving me nonverbal signals (what I call 's.o.n.a.r.'), then it's easy to go in and chat for a minute, exchange info and leave about my business.

Social scientists have dissected the way human beings become attracted to one another by judging body language. After all, body language is over 55 % of all communication. What the scientists have found is that sexual interest can be judged on an axis of cues termed "contact readiness cues." Interestingly enough these cues were not only observed in north American subjects but in different cultures as well. Ethnologist Eibl Eibesfeldt filmed African tribes in the 1960's and found nearly the exact same contact readiness cues as were found in the United States. Interestingly, over our combined 10 years deciphering attraction, we've found some patterns that tell if a woman is attracted to you or not.

So how do you tell if a women is attracted to you?

Her Body Position

A women's body positioning is a fairly strong representation of how interested a women is in what you are saying or communicating. Women in my Life:

My experience with women has been that of a bittersweet experience. I mean, growing up in a country like Nigeria (in the "eighties") could be rather hard on a little guy who has no knowledge about girls and their passions. I found out to my surprise that what guys fancy most could be quite irritating to the ladies. For example, a game/sport like soccer. Being one of the better players on the field at the age of ten didn't get me the desired attention from the girls as I thought it would have. Yes the girls cheered and even hugged when I made a goal, but that was where it ends. As I was shy and couldn't keep their interest long enough, other boys (who weren't as good as I was in the game) easily swept them of their feet with their charisma.

So as I grew older, I always find myself stuck to a quick-fix kind of relationships with women. It didn't matter that I was good looking or gently. They always find one problem or the other with me (much as I can say of them). Because of these, I was always on the watch for heartbreakers. I had to find a way to overcome this problem though.

The ladies in my life nevertheless were the best I could have wished for even if I only had their love temporarily. If they ever come across my web log, I hope they know that they meant so much to me and I still love them. Oh Well!!

We change our hairstyles, dress code and even our attitudes just to please them. We find ourselves constantly changing because of this that it sort of drives us crazy to an extent. And we wonder who is in control. In our desire to please women (which we mistakenly think will make them like us), we guys are always doing things to get a woman's "approval" or "permission". HORRIBLE idea!! Women are NEVER attracted to the types of men who kiss up to them... EVER. Don't get me wrong here. You don't have to treat women BADLY for them to like you. You will never succeed by looking for approval. Women actually get ANNOYED at men who seek their approval.

I have a buddy who will under no circumstances approach a woman he doesn't know. It doesn't matter if she's making direct eye contact and sending him a "come seduce me" smile. "If you want to be funny, get a joke book. If you want to learn how to make a woman feel attraction for you by the way you talk to her and communicate with her, then focus what you’re going to learn on CREATING AND AMPLIFYING ATTRACTION."

This can be done in several ways, but the best are the funny ways that show that you are ABOVE her and don’t NEED her. Generally this means being a bit of a jerk and breaking a girl’s balls, especially in front of her friends.

One example is teasing a girl in front of her friends. A guy who has the balls to say, "Man, does this girl EVER shut up?" or "Is she always this annoying?" to a girl’s group of friends, commands awesome power. He will quickly fit into the group, make them laugh, and come off as a very cool, attractive guy, all in one.

Why? Because doing something ballsy and somewhat rude makes people remember you. 2. Story-Telling

Work on your story-telling as much as possible. A guy who can captivate an audience with awesome stories that draw listeners in impresses the HELL out of women and makes himself very attractive. It’s a combination of power, intelligence, and social maneuvering, all in one: a very attractive combination.

But you don’t have to have travelled around the world or scaled Mt. Everest to have an impressive story; what it all comes down to is how you present your story. That means your tonality, pitch, volume: all kinds of ways in which you talk. Great story-tellers take an otherwise boring tale and make it spell-binding.

3. Being the Center of People’s Universe, aka Be a Leader

Girls don’t want someone who kisses people’s asses. They want a guy in control, a guy whose universe only revolves around one person: HIMSELF. An attractive guy doesn’t need other people for happiness and validation; he only needs himself.

As David DeAngelo says,

"A woman wants a man who is strong enough to attract her, hold her in his orbit, and keep her there…but the thing that really keeps her ‘attracted’ (feeling attraction) is the tension that comes from not quite being ‘all the way there.' "

That is, you have to be able to bring a group of people closer…but not too close. Keep a girl curious, keep her wanting more. This can be done through teasing and pushing her away–slap her wrist or make jokes about her in front of her friends. Tell her to stop following you: "Man, stop stalking me, you’re weirding me out!"

Even better, walk away just when things are getting good. Say you have to go check on your friends or go somewhere else.

For example, if you’ve told a great story that has everyone laughing, leave just when they’re all cracking up. Show that your universe is so big that you have bigger things to do. This will give people–particularly your target–time to reflect on what a cool guy you are, and make them come chasing to hear more. They’ll beg you to stay, but insist that you have to go. This will make them want you all the more, and have your target chasing after you and throwing herself at you. Attraction gold!

4. Vocal Celibacy

This is an excellent, oft-overlooked skill that attraction expert, Carlos Xuma, recommends.

Believe it or not, sometimes the best skill is actually just to shut up. That’s right: a man who listens draws people in. Ever notice how women, and even men, flock to the guys who sympathize and listen to them?

Well, you don’t have be a soft, Dr. Phil type to be a good listener. In fact, listening brings with it a large amount of POWER. By pausing for a few seconds after someone says something, making them wait for you to respond, you make them feel uneasy, expecting…and, in the case of women, more attracted to you. Because you show you have the upper hand. You have control.

As Xuma says,

"The next time a woman asks you a question, PAUSE for a little bit. Keep pushing the limit until you cannot answer the question at all. She’ll try to make you feel uncomfortable, but if you can handle that it’ll increase your confidence immeasurably."

More importantly, it will make HER more confident in you…she can’t help but want to be drawn into your universe. You’re unlike anyone she’s ever met before!

If he is not catching on, she will eventually excuse herself with some convenient excuse and leave. Most women are nice and don't want to hurt his feelings but he has to take the hint and excuse himself. This will save him face and allow him to go meet other women.

How women use their eyes to flirt
Eye contact may be the biggest way women try to communicate with men. They will see a guy across the room and start giving eye signals that give men permission to approach.

If a man sees a woman look at him, then look away, then look at him, then look down, he should go talk to her. She may also start to play with their hair. For many women their hair is one of their strong physical features. So when they start to feel attracted and uncomfortable they play with their hair to reassure themselves.

If a woman is really interested in a man, she will gaze into his eyes deeply. If she is thinking about what it would be like to kiss him, she will start to look at his lips. She is imagining the whole kissing scene.

Another thing to watch for is how women use their legs. When a man is talking to a woman and she crosses her legs with her top leg pointing in his direction, she is interested in him. If she crosses her top leg away from him she is not interested.

The same thing applies to the arms. When a woman is interested in a man she will open her chest up to him. It's a subtle sexual flirt. She will intentionally let him get a view to get his mind thinking about things unseen.

Women hold the keys to lots of information-whether it be that handsome, wealthy man who is just become available, the position at the Governor's office she's scouting for, or just being close to someone whose advice can change your life and destiny. Naturally, these types of women are normally suspicious of other women who come around. They put up road blocks and keep their social circles tight and close knit. But if there is anyone in this world who is going to stop you from getting ahead, it's going to be another woman.

First, quickly bond with other women by using their same gestures, almost like with men. Somehow, people subconsciously think you are "soulmates" when you do this. It is also possible to have a soulmate of the same sex that is nonsexual. Next, compliment her, ask questions and make her talk, even if you're not listening to a syllable of it. As young girls, females are taught to help their mothers with housework, cleaning, and with taking care of younger siblings. It is a life dream of many women - getting married and having children. Women do have natural instincts to mate and reproduce. However, giving birth is not the sole function of women in society. Innately, women are teachers, as mothers teach their children right from wrong. Are women expected to stay home and teach their children? If the answer is yes, then women must amply pursue their career goals before they have children, subsequently, sacrificing those dreams in order to self-raise their children. If the answer is no, then women should be encouraged to pursue their career aspirations even after childbirth. Although marriage and childbirth are life ambitions for many women, women should not stop dreaming after childbirth.

Exactly how long are women expected to stay home with the kids; is it kindergarten, 5th grade or 6th grade?

Likewise, what should women do after retirement or menopause? Maybe they should help raise their grandchildren, or perhaps they should find a hobby or do volunteer work. It is one thing to make sacrifices to raise children, yet another to pretend like women stop dreaming. Oppression of the mind due to social stigmas and pressure is not healthy for women. If a woman wants to become a doctor, should she have children before or after medical school? What if she gets pregnant during medical school? How long should a woman wait to return to school or work after she has kids?

Dreams never leave, they merely get lost along the journey we call life.

Since men do not have to sacrifice their bodies, enduring 9 months of pregnancy, and subsequently breast feeding, their careers and work-lives are not drastically altered. It is a well-known fact that women can endure much more pain than men. In addition, men would never stop bitching if they had to deal with monthly menstruation. Nowadays, women are living long past the age of menopause; therefore women must have another purpose for survival, or living. Many women don't think past the age of retirement concerning their goals and dreams. But, women should think about their future all the way to their death because the only thing that we individually leave behind in this world is our legacy, or the legend which we create. In the long run, what we do for ourselves dies with us, still, what we do for others continues to bless them for a lifetime.

Men are a significant portion of the child raising equation. The millennium family may have a stay at home dad, and mommy may bring home the bacon. It is okay for women to pursue their career aspirations. Maybe a woman's dream is to have kids, but when that is accomplished or when a dream is fulfilled, what happens next? Is that goal not then replaced by another, or does it get checked off the list and other dreams escalate in the dream priority line? If an extremely talented and athletic woman dreamed of playing professional basketball in her youth, yet it seemed impossible because the Women's National Basketball Association (WMBA) did not exist at that time, hid that dream deep inside her and made a life decision to pursue another dream, then revived her basketball dream with the creation of the WMBA, should she be a slave to her past and let a decision made yesteryear impede her happiness and stop her from pursuing her lifelong dream?? If she got married and started a family, how long should she wait to begin her time sensitive journey?

Age and/or body conditioning are factors in everyone's sports dreams. It is crucial that women attempt to pursue such dreams while they still can. Sometimes the harsh reality of the difference between the fitness level required by our dream sport and our present athletic fitness level either motivates us to work harder and realize the amount of effort required to make our sports dream come true, or pushes us over the edge to quit and causes us to bury our dream forever, or at least until we have kids.

Are women encouraged to pursue their dreams? No, not nearly as much as they should be. Therefore, it is vital that women categorize their dreams and goals: some dreams are time sensitive, others require a major change of lifestyle, and some involve other people. As the sayings go, "if you can't see it, you can't be it," and "if you don't plan, then you plan to fail." Most incredibly successful people made a plan and followed it. Women should not play the blame game and place the responsibility for accomplishing their dreams with someone else. We all have free will and the right to pursue happiness. Women are free to pursue their dreams and conquer the obstacle we call life; however, sometimes they could use a little encouragement.

I've noticed that a lot of guys tend to over complicate things when trying to figure out how women show interest.

"Well, she played with her hair, but she didn't touch her neck."

"She smiled at me but she didn't keep eye contact very long."

"Or, she laughed at my jokes but she didn't touch my arm."

"So what do you think? Is she interested in me?"

Dude, relax! The fact is, all of those things ARE signs that a woman is showing interest in you, but (and this is a big but) women only show those signs a tiny fraction of the time when they're interested in a man.

So, while all those signs are ways that women show interest in men, you've got to stop letting them dictate how you act around women.

Let's boil things down and say that if a woman even acknowledges your existence and pays attention to you at all, lets assume she's "interested".

Here's where the important part comes in...

You have to do the things that will create and increase her attraction towards you.

I've just finished reading a great book by Allan and Barbara Pease entitled "Why Men Lie and Women Cry". Women Talk, Talk and Talk
" When a woman talks she often uses indirect speech. Women's indirect speech has a purpose - it builds relationships and rapport with other by avoiding aggression, confrontation or discord.

When women use indirect speech with other women there is seldom a problem - women are sensitive to picking up the real meaning. Men Take Words Literally
Men use direct speech and take words literally. They find women's lack of conversational structure and purpose very disconcerting, and accuse women of not knowing what they're talking about. "Where is this conversation going?" and "What's the bottom line?"

Indirect Talk In Business
When a woman uses indirect speech in business, it can prove problematic because men may have difficulty following a multi-tracked, indirect conversation.
Men need to be presented with clear , logical, organised ideas and information before they will make a decision.

Marie's Story
After six months of negotiations, Marie finally won the chance to present her company's new advertising program to a big financial client. The audience would be eight men and four women, the account up for grabs was worth $200,000, and she had 30 minutes to sell her story.

As she started into her presentation, however, she noticed how blankly the men were regarding her. She felt they were judging her critically and, assuming they were losing interest, she began to multi-track her presentation to try to spur their interest by going back to previous slides, talking indirectly and trying to show how one related to the other.

The women were giving her encouragement by smiling at her, using various facial expressions and making listening sounds like, "Uh huh", "Right!" and "Mmmmm" and generally looking interested.

Marie was excited by the women's feedback and started pitching her story to them, unintentionally ignoring the men. Here's the conversation that took place between the male executives over coffee after Marie had gone:
Marketing Director: "Do you guys have an idea in hell c what she was talking about?".
Chief Executive: "No…she lost me. Marie had multi-tracked her presentation and used indirect talk with a group of men who didn't have a clue what she was talking about or what related to what. The women executives were happy with the presentation and had participated by asking questions but no man wanted to raise his hand and admit he didn't understand.
A woman needs to understand that if a man doesn't follow what she's saying he'll often pretend he understands rather than look stupid.
Regardless of a man's age, a woman still needs to talk with direct speech. Give him timetables, agenda, bottom line answers and deadlines.
Women need to be direct with men in business and give them one thing at a time to consider. Marie is still waiting for an answer…

Secret #4 -- Ask for the stretch assignments

Women can get caught in a double bind of being seen as too ambitious. Even if you grew up playing with boys, those experiences are minor in comparison to the influence of social norms. Growing up, girls learn how to be competent interpersonally and develop and sustain relationships. Boys, on the other hand, learn how to subordinate relationships to aggressiveness, competition, and winning.

Research shows that behaving like a man will backfire. Women have a narrower band of acceptable behavior. The one important piece to remember is that for most men, business is a game. If you understand that it’s not personal, you will be able to choose your strategies and approaches wisely to your success.

Secret #7 -- Know what it takes to successfully transition each leadership passage
In the book, The Leadership Pipeline, by Charam, Drotter & Noel, the authors identify six passages which require a different focus and attention to navigate successfully through the passage. The six passages are 1) from Manage Self to Manage Others, 2) Manage Managers, 3) Functional Manager, 4) Business Manager, 5) Group Manager, 6) Enterprise Manager (CEO). Not only is understanding this critical for your success in progressing upward, but it is vital for you to understand how to focus the development for those under your span of control. The skills, time application, and work values are different for each passage and there are signs of possible derailment at each turn. For example, passage number 4 from Functional Manager to Business Manager requires an ability to deliver inspired communication, assemble a strong team, grasp how the company makes money, and develop strong leadership at multiple below you.

Secret #8 -- Know and manage your image
Some questions to ask yourself are: How do people perceive you in your organization? What image are you portraying through your dress?

As a leader it is more important to be respected than liked. A word about business attire. Make sure your business attire is tasteful but does not draw more attention to your sexuality, such as tight skirts, sweaters, low cut blouses, or frilly clothing. The general rule of thumb to follow is to dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Notice what successful women at the top of your organization are wearing and adapt to that style. If you have never worked with a professional coach, you might consider doing a little research and contacting some experienced coaches for a sample coaching session. Many coaches offer a free 45-minute coaching session so you get to know them and what to expect in the coaching process with them. Working with an experienced coach can expedite your development and save you a lot of hard lessons.

Secret #10 Know your long-term goals, maintain work/life balance, and support other women
Be clear about your long-term goals and how you will maintain the work/life balance that’s right for you. If your goal is to reach the upper executive levels, then find out what commitment it will take, how it will impact your personal life, and what support systems you will need to put in place. You may decide that you enjoy being at a mid-level management position with the ability to influence many people and groups within the organization. Or, if you are better suited to be a senior level individual contributor such as VP of Investor Relations, then go for that.

It’s important for your own happiness and satisfaction in life that you identify your key productive skills, your long-term goals, and your personal quality of life to determine the best career path for you.

In a Catalyst study with interviews of executive women, women pointed out that you cannot have it all. If you are married, it is important to have a supportive spouse. Many women pay for hired help to support childcare, home maintenance, etc. Women are so skilled at multi-tasking and handling many things for themselves and others in their lives that they often neglect to take care of themselves. Support other women who are coming up through the ranks to create networks of collective support for all women. This is key to shifting the culture to be more in balance between masculine and feminine ways of approaching business.

Many of them are holding some of the most prestigious positions in many countries. But for a woman making a place for herself in any field is not an easy task as it is thought to be. Even in 21st centaury equality between women and men is an imaginary thing. Though the right of equality is given to the women but to a great extent it is just a bookish thing.

Neither freedom not right is easily given to a woman. She has to fight at each and every step for her existence, freedom and right. Whether you talk about personal or professional life she has to face discriminatory attitude as still our society is a male-dominated society.

Ironically even today males are preferred, valued and promoted. In spite of being more capable, efficient, honest and reliable a woman is treated partially most of the time. At home as well as in office she is expected to perform her duties well but as far as her freedom and rights are concerned she is given 40% out of 100%.

She is cheated by explaining that freedom as well as rights is being given to her as today she is allowed to study and work. A woman must not let herself be fooled.

Get Women to Pick You Up - Flirting and Seduction
Many times a student will ask me about picking up women at work, or some other place where it would be inappropriate for him to 'hit on' a woman. In situations where a man doesn't want to get a 'reputation', it is much better to take a more indirect route. In other words, through careful flirting, a man can get women to advance the relationship and pick him up instead. Specifically, we will use eye contact as a means of flirting, and false barriers to get women to make the first move.

In this type of situation, we are displaying tenative interest. Tenative interest not only a great way to generate attraction, but it also creates a wonderful opportunity for some fun flirting. I guarantee you'll get women to react a bit more favorably. They will want to meet your standards, and you'll get women qualifying themselves to you.

Great flirting requires mastery of eye contact. Here are guidelines for eye contact flirting:
1. When a woman is acting favorably to you, or you have a fun vibe happening, keep solid eye contact.
2. As things progress and you are alone with a woman, stick to the 70 / 30 rule. This states that 70% of the time you should be holding eye contact, and 30% of the time, you should not. This sets the stage to get women comfortable with you and ready for seduction.
3. When you are saying something funny, it's better to not hold eye contact.
4. If you are making a move physically and touching her, do not hold strong eye contact. This signals to her that you aren't seeking her approval for you escalation.
5. When approaching a group for the first time, and you are talking, balanace eye contact throughout the various men and women in the group. The idea is to get women involved in your conversation, but at the same time you keep your interest on a tenative level.
6. Never use your own eye contact in attempt to get women to hold eye contact with you. Remember, this is flirting, and it should be fun.

Once you have the tenative interest mindset down, and are good at fliritng, you will set up a really fun vibe between you and the woman. Here are some examples of false barriers. One friend of mine is a DJ, and gets gigs at parties There are plenty of beautiful women at these parties, but he doesn't want to break the professional relationship. He can demonstrate his interest in a responsible way by saying: "Hey. Again, this is flirting, and it should be playful.

In a more general work situation you can say something like: "You know, you are so adorable. Good thing we're co-workers, or else we'd be getting into all kinds of trouble." Remember, these are false barriers, and in order for them to work, you must first get women interested through your flirting. When a woman is interested enough, barriers give her just the push she needs to motivate her into making a move. So the key is, get women into your playful vibe with flirting, then playfully throw up the barrier.

Do You 'Want' Something From Women?

In dating, so many guys are clearly sending the wrong signals when it comes to going out, approaching, attracting and dating women. They are repelling women before it starts. So many guys are clearly sending the wrong signals when it comes to going out, approaching, attracting and dating women.
They're too greedy, too interested, too unable to control themselves around beautiful women.
It's obvious they want something from women.
This male behavior frankly creeps most of the women out.
She's thinking, 'Here's another guy who is so excited to be around me just for my body because he probably fantasizes about bodies like mine but I'm not interested so I'd better find a way to reject him'.

It reeks of desperation.
This is happening daily through 'first world' countries between men and women. The man is acting so selfish and not offering any real value to the woman.
And so, another good-looking woman has to reject yet ANOTHER guy because he's showing nonverbal signs of excitement, lack of self-control and overt sexual interest in her.
Not only do women know exactly where this guy is coming from, but all of the excitement for women is over before it even began.

They KNOW this guy just wants sex and is WAY to eager. There's no interest, no mystery, no value in it for her. Worse than that, this guy is going to be dragging around her heels, calling her 200 times a day behaving co-dependently.

He has to be able to control himself first if she's going to get ANY kind of value out of a potential relationship.
So if you've been one of those guys who couldn't control his own body language around women (and honestly at a time I used to be around the so-called 'HOTTEST' of women), it's time to take a serious look at what's going on here and to find a Real solution on how to get this area handled or resolved so that you can stop wasting so much time and get results instead.
For an effective solution, we have to go deeper than thoughts and actions; we have to effectively influence your own subconscious mind to change your subconscious behavior.
It's easy to say 'think positive', be indifferent and just take control of yourself around women. Unfortunately for most men who have edified so much value of a woman's (social) sexuality, it's gone beyond logic.

The neural connections are too strong as they are, built upon massive conscious thought combined with massive emotional attribution through basically putting the 'pussy on a pedestal'.
He's grounded himself completely in the wrong type of relationship to women.

It would take something powerful; something different than what's in our current behavioral reality that got men into this problem in the first place.
If men found this way that extends beyond NLP and hypnosis, they could realign their physiological behavior and change their true relationship to women. Then they'd get the opposite effects of manifesting massive attraction around women.

Any man and any women who meet, you can see what's happening if you're cognitive. His nonverbal behavior represents the TRUE relationship he already has to women, power and beauty.

Is he comfortable in his own skin in relation to her power and beauty or is he just like all the rest of the guys who have over-glorified sexploitation and attribute it to her?
Any amount of justification in NLP that a man is 'weak' while still being ignorant to our behavioral reality isn't going to be very effective.

Dealing With Tests From Women
Ever feel like a woman is testing you? And I am not talking about testing your intellectual capacity either. Women definitely test men, particularly when they first start dating.
For example, say she runs late three times in a row when meeting you. And when I say late, I mean over 10 minutes. If someone arrives to a date, and is less than 10 minutes late, no big deal. If it is more than 10 minutes…I take note.
So, she is late three times in a row, what do you do?

Most guys don’t say a word, fearing upsetting her, and losing her “highly valuable” affection. Why guys value someone who disrespects them over and over is a chronic problem – something I am out to remedy.

What is really happening here is – she is testing you. Biologically, testing from women is necessary. She is screening you to see if you are “man enough”, to help her feel secure with you. Women want MEN in their lives (not wimpy boys). They crave masculine energy and affection.

In our products we cover this at length. Understanding this is a cornerstone to having mastery with dating and relationships.
If she tests you a time or two, no problem – that is good, and healthy – as long as you know how to pass the test! If the testing continues, walk away – she needs help, and it’s a kind of help you can’t provide.

The key is to handle tests like a gentleman, while delivering a clear message that her lateness is unacceptable. I hope it helps you out.
I was awaiting her arrival at the cinema. At 10 minutes past, I got in line for the tickets and purchased my ticket while being sure that I could return it if necessary. At 20 minutes past, I crossed the street and sat in a café, and started making some calls (other women, of course, on the list – I was a bachelor at the time). Here was our conversation:
Go ahead and get your ticket, and I will meet you over there in 5 minutes, gotta pay my bill”

She: “Ok, see you in a minute – again, sorry I was late”
Instead of changing the slightest bit of my schedule, I went forward without her. The plan had been to meet at the cinema, and then go for coffee. Also, because she was late, she now had to furnish her own ticket (this being the third time she was late, I was definitely not paying for anything). Once you make the wallet pay for the lateness, it seems to stop! I eventually lost interest in her, and her lateness was a major contributing factor.

I advocate action over words anytime. Why say something if you can indicate it with cool, smooth behavior? If you can tell her that her lateness is unacceptable by simply behaving with self-respect (continuing my evening with or without her) this is much more powerful than:
“Uh, you know, when you’re late, it really upsets me. I feel hurt and slighted..”

This may be true, but it is not a MASCULINE solution to the problem. The masculine solution is to be kind, yes, but to also be autonomous.
So, if she is late, when she arrives you have taken a call and have to make her wait a few moments before you can see her. I have even been known to make/take a fake phone call. Feel free to throw in something like, “It is 5:20pm now, let’s talk in a few hours OK?” This works way better than you standing there like the headmaster checking his watch – got it?
In conclusion, the best way to handle tests from women is to simply sidestep them, they are a small bump along the road of your life. Keep living, make her catch up. Being reliable is high on my list, and I really want this to work out. I tend to lose interest though when issues like this continually surface.”

By telling her that you lose attraction for her (which is true, right guys?), the stakes become very high suddenly. Women pride themselves on being attractive to men, and if her behavior is causing that to diminish…well then, you’ve just found the sweet spot.

Ultimately, we are all seeking healthy, positive, and productive relationships with people. If someone continually disrespects us by being late, or by behaving immaturely, we have to step back and ask – why am I involved with her in the first place? Feel free to walk away gentlemen. There are single women everywhere who will treat you with respect and who will be on time to see you.

What is the most deadly psychological disorder today? If you guessed an eating disorder, then you are right. According to WebMD, eating disorders are illnesses that cause a person to adopt harmful eating habits. So, does this make WebMD just a great resource, or is this really true, and is an eating disorder really a dangerous illness? Most sufferers of an eating disorder are often mocked about their problem, and they are not taken seriously. People should not misinterpret or disbelieve sufferers of an eating disorder because it is, in fact, a very serious illness. Why are eating disorders the greatest killers among the many different psychological disorders? This is because of the media, as well as the disorder’s dramatic and deadly affects on the body. From television, radio, and the news, to magazines, newspapers, and the internet, media plays a big role in the spreading ideas, norms, and styles to people. Media spreads information really quickly to millions of people. Media is around people no matter where they turn, and they face it on a daily basis in some form. So, how is media related to eating disorders? This question, and many other questions, will be answered after we get a better understanding of what an eating disorder is, its characteristics, statistics, and ways to prevent and treat it. I will, however, focus only on anorexia and bulimia because they are more affected by the media than overeating disorders are.

People with eating disorders obsess about their intake of food, and they spend a lot of time thinking about their weight and body image. Their body is badly affected both emotionally and physically. People with an eating disorder may suffer from a number of different symptoms, and not everyone gets the same symptoms as they vary from individual to individual. According to the Help Guide-Mental Health Issues, even though anorexia is the most revealed eating disorder in the media, bulimia is the most prevalent eating disorder.

A person suffering from anorexia sees themselves as fat when they are, in fact, skinny and underweight. Women with anorexia may have problems with their menstrual cycle such as missed or late periods, as well as trouble getting pregnant. People suffering from anorexia can also have muscle and joint problems, kidney stones, kidney failure, anemia, bloating, constipation, low levels of potassium, magnesium, and sodium in their bodies, low blood pressure, slow heart rate, and heart failure. Some physical signs that can be seen on a person suffering from anorexia are dry or yellow skin, brittle nails, more hair growth on their body, and thin and brittle hair. A person suffering from bulimia can get the same effects as a person suffering from anorexia since both disorders involve the loss of major and rapid weight, which leads to very unhealthy changes in the body. Symptoms between anorexia and bulimia sufferers differ in the way that sufferers of bulimia would eat a lot of food in a short amount of time and then force themselves to throw up, when people with anorexia just don’t want to eat altogether. People with bulimia also misuse laxatives and go on strict diets of fasting and rigorous exercising. Sufferers from eating disorders in general are affected emotionally, psychologically, behaviorally, and socially. Emotional and psychological changes include increased anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, guilt, and low self esteem. Some changes in behavior of a person suffering from an eating disorder include dieting, frequent visits to the bathroom after eating, a change in fashion, and constantly checking their weight. Some social changes of a person suffering from an eating disorder may include isolation, being anti-social, avoiding social gatherings where food is involved, and a loss of interest for hobbies. Other physical signs of eating disorders in general include edema, a reduction in metabolism, sore throats, stomach problems, heartburn, and hypoglycemia; which leads to irrational thinking, shaking, confusion, irritability, and comas.

Eating disorders have a big impact on society on a small and on a large scale; meaning both individuals and society as a whole dedicate significant parts of their lives to the struggles of dealing with eating disorders. Eating disorders are very common amongst celebrities, mainly because their profession puts pressure on them to be skinny. The majority of celebrities that we see in the media are all skinny, and most of them are anorexic or bulimic. The problem with this is that anorexic and skinny celebrities do not make good role models for their fans because their skinny figures are not a healthy look to follow. Famous people believe that in order to be successful they must be skinny. Celebrities expose their looks and body image to the media where fans can see them and get the wrong idea that their idol’s looks are acceptable when their idols are only trying to lose weight for their own “success”. In a weight article, Monica Seles stated that “Women in society have much tougher pressure to be thin.” It is like a cycle; celebrities are skinny in order to impress their fans and companies. They send their fans the wrong idea, thus making their fans lose weight. According to the article “Eating Disorders and Body Image in the Media” by Heather Mudgett, media can be very hypocritical because while the media shares news about celebrities dying from eating disorders, it also contains images of underweight celebrities modeled as if everyone should look like them. We might also see an article about a person dying from an eating disorder in a magazine, and on the next page we might see an underweight model, modeling a popular product. Consumers spend so much money on products and services that will help them lose weight, such as weight loss drinks, nutrition bars, pills, laxatives, weight loss videos, and they even take weight loss classes. People also misuse drugs and liquids in order to force themselves to lose weight, and this can be very stressing to the body. Any time that we do something against our body’s natural functions, we hurt our body and put ourselves at great risk to further health problems in the future.

So many celebrities suffer and have died from eating disorders. According to the South Carolina Department of Health, about seven million American women and one million American men have an eating disorder. About half of Americans know at least one person who has an eating disorder. According to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, about 5% to 10% of people diagnosed with anorexia will die within 10 years of having the disease, about 18% to 20% of people will be dead after having the disease for 20 years and only 30% to 40% of people will recover from it. It is very scary fact that the rate of mortality for people with anorexia is twelve times higher than the rate of death of all of the causes of death for females from 15 to 24 years old. (South Carolina Department of Health). Nearly 20% of the people who have anorexia will die prematurely from health problems and heart problems due to their eating disorder. About 95% of people with an eating disorder are between the ages of 12 and 25, about 50% of females between the ages of 11 and 13 see themselves as overweight, and around 80% of 13 year old's have, at some point, tried to lose weight. It is a very sad fact that over 80% of females who have made an effort to go get treatment for their eating disorder, have not received the full treatment that they need in order to fully recover. Obviously, eating disorders are really serious and they should be treated as soon as possible.

Since eating disorders are such important problems facing society today, researchers have used psychological theories to try to solve these problems including group therapy, medical treatment, and nutritional counseling. Eating disorders are treatable, and a person who has an eating disorder does have a chance of getting better, however, if the media continues to idolize skinny celebrities and condone their extremely thin size, it will continue to aid people in trying to lose weight. Having an eating disorder is like a really bad habit that needs to be stopped. There are several different methods used to treat an eating disorder. Since an eating disorder affects individuals both physically and psychologically, the treatment for an eating disorder has to satisfy both the physical and psychological aspect of the disorder. Medicine alone wont help a patient get better. In order to get positive long term effects from the treatment, a patient has to receive a mix of medical and psychological help for their disorder. Some therapies that psychologists use to determine the problem and treatment of an eating disorder are cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, rational emotive therapy, and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

Cognitive behavioral therapy allows psychologists to see the patient’s thought process, interpersonal therapy involves dealing with difficult relationships with others, rational emotive therapy involves studying a patient’s unhelpful beliefs, and psychoanalytic psychotherapy involves looking at a person’s past experiences. Group therapy is a helpful part of treatment that allows sufferers of the similar eating disorders get together to discuss their problem. Medical treatment is necessary in order to make sure that the patient receives full treatment. Nutritional counseling is another effective and good way to help treat eating disorders. Dieticians and nutritionists can help patients understand what a well-balanced diet is and what foods they should eat on a daily basis. Nutritional counseling can also help patients face their fears about food and get over their fears of being afraid to eat.

A lot of people are confused about what “normal eating” is so they need nutritional counseling to help them get back on track. Not that many people who suffer from an eating disorder go to get treated for it. According to the South Carolina Department of Health , only 1 out of 10 people who suffer from an eating disorder go to get treatment. Costs for outpatient treatment can be over $100,000. In the US, the cost of treatment for an eating disorder per day is anywhere from $500 to $2,000. People with eating disorders need approximately 3-6 months of inpatient care in order to recover. The cost of treatment for an eating disorder is ridiculously high, and the high costs might be a reason that people do not go to get treated. It is very hard for most families to pay for the treatment of their illness, especially when insurance companies don’t usually cover eating disorder costs. Another way to help reduce the number of people with eating disorders is to educate people about the dangers of eating disorders through media. The media is a good tool to help educate people on the dangers of eating disorders, but it is also a tool that hurts people by condoning the appearances of skinny people who suffer from such disorders. Another way that eating disorders can be treated and minimizes is through the “Doll Experiment”. I believe that as long as the media continues to idolize thin celebrities, the effects of education about the dangers of eating disorders through the media will not be effective. For each step that they take forward to solve the problem, they take two steps back by continuing to idolize thin celebrities. It is not a question of what effects have a greater likelihood of causing an eating disorder, but it is a fact that media does contribute to people developing and maintaining eating disorders. There are other causes of eating disorders, such as interpersonal or biological factors, but if the problem of media influencing eating disorders can be changed, there will be fewer cases of eating disorders. We have to take one step at a time in order to solve this very serious problem of eating disorders, and a great place to start is to change the fact that media influences eating disorders. There is not one cause of eating disorders, but media is a big influence to them since media reaches so many people. Personally, I think that group therapy very helpful in the treatment process of an eating disorder. Victims of an eating disorder are able to ask questions and receive answers in order to better understand their situation.

Unfortunately, people are put under so much pressure to be thin by watching skinny celebrities all over the media be idolized. No, most of the time, celebrities are not good role models. Educating young kids about the media and how to criticize media is a very important step to reducing the number of people with eating disorders. Since media has such a big influence on eating disorders, children should be able to effectively criticize it and not fall victim to its schemes.

Personally, I don’t think that the media will ever be an effective resource for people to learn the truth and to learn about eating disorders. The media spreads a lot of false information and people tend to misinterpret the messages they hear on TV. Consumers spend a lot of money and time trying to lose weight and buying these products that are not what the body needs.

Getting onto the Field Shedding a Little Light on the Complex World of Male - Female Relationships: Why we are the Way We are.
So you've made it into the stadium and you are now stepping onto the playing field for your first day of practice with the Dallas Cowboys. Nervous excitement courses through your veins as the coach talks about the various formations he is going to run the team through and begins to discuss the different play calls and strategies he will be using during this season's games.

Also, some of the plays are new to you and could cause complications and confusion in the season ahead if you don't understand them.
A team's language will guide you in how to interact and communicate with your teammates on the playing field. This language that each player must learn is full of individual components, called the "plays." For each "play," there is a "plan." Each of these "plays" and "plans" has been specially formulated through years of research and scientific study, producing entire systems of proven techniques that can make winners out of the players and teams.

Once the methods were proven effective, they were gathered together and worked into a playbook for each team to base its "plays" and "plans" on. This process is much the same as that of the "plays" and "plans" of a relationship. Once you learn this language, you can enter the game confidently and achieve victory!

A woman's perception of her relationship, as well as the language she uses within a relationship may seem very complicated, and sometimes confusing. While men tend to go with the flow without over-analyzing things, women try to find out what's behind the words they see and hear when dealing with their loved ones. This process is intuitively part of their naturally protective circuitry, helping them emotionally guard themselves and their loved ones. This applies here because women are built as nurturers and maintain a natural curiosity about their environment, in order to help them protect themselves and those they love from perceived dangers.

Women have the "need to know" or to discover all the "information" about their surroundings and then make judgment calls as to any dangers that may affect those they love. This of course, can lead to any number of natural responses to the perceived dangers of their surroundings and an inherent desire to analyze all causes and effects. Because curiosity (analyzing) is a natural response for women, it tends to bleed over into other areas of their lives, namely their relationships.

Men are not as complicated (in a good way) with their spoken language. In the same way that women tend to over-analyze things, sometimes they also include hidden meaning in their spoken words. The reasons for this can be partially found by looking at the traditional upbringing and social history of women.

Parents and other adults teach women, at a very early age, that they need to be strong, confident and know what they want. Society in general, sees images of successful women on television and in the movies that are more demure and non-aggressive, but still get what they need and desire.

The woman on television or in the media, who ends up with the man of her dreams, may have played it "coy," playing off on her seeming "need" for the man. The media image presented is often in direct conflict with the way that a woman may have been raised. Because of these two conflicting images, women have now received mixed messages and are subjected to confusing images about the way they should behave in society. On top of this, women see the men around them as being intrigued and often fascinated by the media image of a woman, an image that may not always interconnect with the ideals and values that they, as women, were brought up with.

Because of this, women may be unsure how to present themselves and may seek to bring forward aspects of both images at the same time. As a result, they may confuse the two images, hiding their true feelings and thoughts deep within their words, all the while struggling to achieve the final goal of communicating their needs or "message" to those that participate in their lives.

The facts show that men and women are conceived equally in terms of their overall intelligence.
However, somewhere between the twelfth and fourteenth weeks of pregnancy, there is a testosterone wash that flows over the brain of a male baby. Testosterone is one of the main chemicals that enable the brain to manufacture and create serotonin, which is an important neurotransmitter in the brain, causing certain nerve cells in the brain to activate and become livelier. Serotonin can also act as an inhibitor. Serotonin affects the brain's interior, known as the ganglia.

The ganglia are the network of the brain, which is divided into two cells, the L cell and the R cell. Scientists believe that one of these cells makes serotonin and the other produces dopamine.

Dopamine is "a monoamine neurotransmitter formed in the brain and is essential to the normal functioning of the central nervous system. ii" Dopamine acts as an inhibitor in the ganglia, thereby causing a calming effect and dampening activity.

This also determines how spatially or temporally aware a person is, with men being born more spatially aware and women more temporally aware. A person who is spatially aware is generally a “left-brain” individual and someone who is temporally aware, is generally a “right-brain” individual.

The word "spatial" is defined as "relating to space. iii" As men are generally more spatially aware, they tend to be better at judging distances, which comes in handy during parallel parking! The word "temporal," meanwhile, is defined as being "of or limited by time. iv” This may explain why women seem to be able to associate time and events without much difficulty.
You know what I am talking about here men, that little thing that really bothers men about women -- she remembers everything she thinks you have done wrong and when you did it! I believe this is due in part because of a woman's propensity for temporal awareness.

Because of the testosterone wash, men tend to be more "left- brain" oriented and women rely more readily on the "right-brain." "Left-brain" individuals tend to be more interested in facts, inclined to logic and reason. A "right-brain" individual tends to be better at, and more interested in, developing relationships and dealing with emotional issues. They are more inclined to emotions and passions and are generally more motivated by investing in the relationships of the home. Their career choices tend to put them in the roles of caregivers or into jobs where they can use their artistic, investigative and research abilities.

This is in contrast to the general tendencies of "left-brained" individual. Most men might find a leisurely reading of Popular Mechanics or Programmer's Security Desk Reference fundamentally more interesting than reading Ladies’ Home Journal or Parent Child Magazine, while women are just the opposite.

This is simply a matter of one's interest and NOT an intellectual issue, as both men and women can be motivated for various reasons to read on all the subjects mentioned. Remember that both sexes are born equally in terms of intelligence.

My uncle gave me a funny example the other day of how men see women's thought patterns when it comes to making decisions. I thought that this insight was a great example of men conquering and women looking for sequence and order before they tackle the matter at hand.

Here's what he had to say: "Men rule by action. Women rule by committee. For example: Man sees hill, climbs hill. Woman sees hill, forms discussion group, sets up hill climbing committee, votes for hill climbing team, schedules climb date, checks rain fall charts, does studies to locate best path, sends out scouts, and much, much, much, much later... finally climbs the hill."
The things we experience each day, the lessons that we are taught as we move through our daily lives and the personal choices we make along the way will also be determining factors in how "left-brain" or "right-brain" we become. These factors will also directly affect our communication with and relationship to others.

The good news is that since each of us has the freedom to make personal choices, we can learn to hear and understand each other's language when we step onto the playing field to begin practice! "Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands." Psalms 119:73

Incest, Rape, and Religions
“The first cities of the Americas were spaces marked out for the ample expansion of celebration, joy, worship, play, praise! In the space of celebration built by the people themselves and for themselves, they came together in joy, in beauty, and each recognized the other as a fellow creator of the common celebration. Their city came alive! The streets of those cities were not streets in which they watched somebody else going someplace else where all the joy was hidden behind expansive walls. The streets were places where everyone sang together, converging upon the central dance which was the life and identity of the city...

The streets led to open spaces that were free for everybody, not to closed buildings reserved for the few. Those early cities knew what to do with space. And what they did with space made human life joyous, real, fully credible. Hip hip HOORAY! For the Bible. This is the book the Franciscans were shoving down the throats of the natives while they burned their libraries and owners alongside them. Here you would think the church of Thomas Merton is really supportive and enabling kind people in search of beauty and the respect of the Mayan people. The Mayans left these cities and hid in the jungle. Their luscious and playful nature that so respects everything was centered in marvelous structures built on the earth energy grid in ways we are only now beginning to intuit - but still they left them! Rather than have their mothers and daughters suffer the indignity and rape of the Spanish heathens! Listen or contemplate these words from later in this same book as he talks about 'tribal cults':

"Spiritual rebirth
{Read 'Resurrection' and 'Salvation' fictions, not the true rebirth that Jesus and the Gnostics seek.} is the key to the aspirations of all the higher religions. By 'higher religions' I mean those which like Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam and Christianity, are not content with the ritual tribal cults rooted in the cycle of the seasons and harvests.” (5)

The Christians took over those same celebrations like Yule and changed the names. Demeaning and ridicule as well as destruction of the libraries and culture aren't enough. They even have had the audacity to create 'blasphemy laws' which aren't even off the books everywhere as yet (It took until 1951 for the British to remove them, no doubt thinking they had everyone duped or doped up on fictions such as Britannica feeds our kids.).

The churchians take advantage of any possible situation like claiming to have rid Ireland of snakes. They revive old knowledge and put their face and mark upon it with impunity. The inside flap of Jesus Through the Centuries says it a little more conservatively as it documents the changing perceptions of how to sell society on stupid attitudes through putting a new 'spin' on Jesus. How they do this is a masterstroke of genius and demonstrates there is one area where man has certainly achieved a 'god-guided' evolution towards a zenith of cultural reality ~ lying!

"Jesus of Nazareth has been the dominant figure in the history of Western culture for almost twenty centuries. Each age has created Jesus in its own image, finding its own thoughts in Jesus, and discovering in his life and teachings the answers to fundamental questions of human existence and destiny… Studying the images of Jesus cherished by successive ages-from rabbi in the first century to universal man in the Renaissance to liberator in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries-Pelikan suggests that the way a particular age depicted Jesus is an essential key to understanding that age... What happened to the political fabric of the Roman empire when Caesar decided that Jesus was to be called King of kings? How do we explain the irony that a tradition which began with the prohibition of sacred images went on to produce the greatest explosion of religious art in human history? How did the vision of Jesus Christ as the disclosure of the rational structure of the universe contribute to the rise of science? How could the Crusades, both medieval and modern, invoke the name of the Prince of Peace?” (6)

Of course I would respectfully ask - 'How did they have the gall to remove women from a position of ecclesiastical import in the church’, and a lot of other questions as well? Am I raving mad? Does it not seem that sick and perverted MEN have been having their way with the people of this world? It is a disease of immense proportions and leads to all sorts of heinous acts like genital disfigurement {with broken glass if necessary}. And all the native people who showed respect for women had to be dealt with in an expeditious manner starting with calling them 'heathens'. God should be damned if this church has anything to do with his work and energy - but it doesn't!

This is simply the work of misogynists and power-mongers. Paul was one of the major culprits and we shall delve deeper into the history of this major con artist. The lack of planning families and breeding more problems such as poverty and over-population aren't even as bad as keeping 'women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen' (though in large parts of the world there is no kitchen). Nature suffers mightily and the collective soul of all life is wounded, but Americans sit at home tacitly supporting and allowing this insensitive carnage to continue. It isn't RIGHT to say 'What can one man do?' In China there is population control. Kill the females! In many cultures the male offspring are the only ones who get any respect and recently a man killed his wife in front of his two daughters with a knife. This was in Mississauga just outside of Toronto, and she bled to death slowly because she couldn't bear him a son. Just remember King Henry the Eighth (that syphilis ridden 'Divine' creature) who started a new branch of Roman Catholicism. This Mississauga man is affected by the religion of Islam but it could just as easily been some other religion Merton called 'higher'. They are pouring acid on young women's faces in India and the authorities don't prosecute the 'perps'. How can we listen to evangelizers and priests who are constantly found to be the 'perps' of sexual crime? In Rome there was a time when stealing money from the public coffers led to the official being put in a bag with a wild animal and having his nose cut off. Man was jealous that women could commune with God easier than they could. Man was jealous that women have a better sense of what is right and MAN was small enough to be so stupid as to engage in a war against the very salvation that the soul of a good and equal woman can bring to a miserable person without compassion. There is a judge in British Columbia who lectured a three year old girl for being 'promiscuous and sexy' in her appearance during her rape case. Incest and rape is often an accepted thing in some cultures and the statistics in North America are of epidemic proportions according to C. Everett Koop the one-time Surgeon-General. Children are still thought to be inventing stories when they tell the truth.

My second wife's story and that of her grandmother made two thirds of her university class on communications cry out loud or leave the room. I tell the story in other books and the images haunt me still. Oprah has done great work in raising our public awareness about incest but the statistics aren't even gathered to really know whether it is 30% or 70% who suffer sexual abuse and violence. The understanding of sexual issues in the part of society that doesn't have the extreme problems, is even more of a concern. Like many of our problems the right questions aren't even being asked.

To do a real analysis of more than just a superficial nature takes time and effort. People like to quote the 'expert' who says what they want to hear in order to sleep comfortably and so they won't have to find out the truth they suspect might be real. Politicians serve these people well. They talk a lot about problems but don't expose the reality they are part and parcel of: in their own 'conflict of interest' cronyistic environment that includes drug companies pushing Ritalin to make up for poor teaching and a lack of academic freedom. Would a government based on the ideals of the Great Earth Mother and inclusive of women as full participants put up with the 'status quo'?

3 Secrets to Reading the Body Language of Women

For single guys, trying to meet woman can be a very frustrating process. Even if we go to the right places and find interesting girls, it still can be difficult due to the fact that guys have to be the ones who initiate a conversation.

So what is body language?
Basically body language is the collection of traits and behavior that all people give off which indicates our conscious (and sub-conscious) feelings. By paying attention to the body language of a woman, you'll be able to tell if she wants you to talk to her.

Having this knowledge will make approaching her that much easier. So when you locate a girl that you are interested in, take a look at her body language and pay attention to these three indicators of interest:
1) Eye Contact
Before even talking to a woman, try to make direct eye contact with her. Try to find anything that indicates a level of nervousness. A powerful way to find out if a woman likes you is to watch how she positions her body after making initial eye contact. If she positions her body in your general direction, then this shows she is attracted to you.
When studying her, you are basically looking for certain indicators which demonstrate a subconscious desire for you to talk to her.

It’s a question every guy asks himself, every guy struggles with at some point or another, every guy desperately wants to know the answer to:

WHAT DO WOMEN WANT?
The answer isn’t easy to come by. There are as many answers as there are types of women: young, old; fat, skinny; talkative, quiet; beautiful…not so beautiful. It’s enough to drive a man crazy! We want to know so badly what it is women desire that Hollywood addressed the age-old question with the movie "What Women Want" (which, I’m embarrassed to say, I enjoyed).

So, surely…there must be something ALL women want?
That’s the good news: There are certain qualities every woman can appreciate. Maybe we think being 6'5", wealthy, and jacked like a football player is what every woman wants, but (thankfully) it’s not. Only certain women want that, and the groupies who only want a millionaire athlete on steroids usually aren’t even worth your time.

It’s better to focus on the girls YOU really want: the girls who make you feel good, and make you a better man. Empower yourself with a sense of choice, so that you don’t waste your time (and theirs) hitting on girls who don’t fit with your personality and purpose. The great news is, if you can provide the basic qualities that all women REALLY desire, then getting the girl of your dreams will be easy!

So let’s look at some things we can safely say women want in a man–regardless of his size, regardless of his looks, regardless of his wealth.
1. Higher value. That is, women want to know that their man is someone other women would want. They want a certain "gotta have" quality about their man. Naturally, that doesn’t mean that you should be hitting on girls when you have a girlfriend. Who doesn’t enjoy being around someone who’s happy, who lifts the mood of the room?

2. A man who needs her…but not too much. This can greatly value from girl to girl, but basically women DO want to feel appreciated. Guys, show interest in a woman, and make her feel beautiful and wanted…but don’t slave over her and make her feel like you can’t live without her. That’s just pathetic, and drives women away.

4. A guy who’s in shape. Okay, I said that you don’t have to be a professional rugby player to attract women, but that doesn’t mean you should let your body slide! Part of a woman’s evolutionary mechanism says that a man who is strong will protect her and the children, as well as produce strong children. Likewise, a man who is weak will produce weak children, and not be able to protect the family as well (if at all) It may occur subconsciously, but it’s there.
So show her your value by being a guy who’s well-built, healthy, and athletic. Join a gym, not just to get women but to improve your health and the way you see yourself. Join a martial arts class–who doesn’t like a guy who can kick some ass? You’ll feel better about yourself, making it easier to pick up girls, and her mating drive will only naturally attract her to you. It’s a win-win situation!

5. Someone who’s not boring. Doesn’t matter how good looking you are…if you bore a woman to tears, she’s not gonna stick around–or even give you a chance, for that matter. Be someone who smiles. Someone who’s quick with a laugh.

6. Someone who’s good with her friends. You’ve seen it at bars: girls always look to their friends for their approval. Get their friends’ approval, and you get the girl’s approval.
Oftentimes it’s actually best to concentrate on getting to know the girl’s group of friends before you spend time talking to her. If you can make her friends laugh and enjoy your company, getting the girl you want will be a piece of cake!

I really like this piece of advice from Joseph Matthews, aka Thundercat, author of The Art of the Approach, in his excellent free e-newsletter: "Meeting women when they are with their friends is WAY easier than waiting for when they are alone! This is because women with friends feel safe and relaxed, so their defenses aren’t up."

Furthermore, he warns that you’re not doing your chances any favors by waiting til she’s alone: "If you wait until she’s by herself to meet her, you’re walking into a situation where she’s going to be WAY more defensive than usual." So learn to be sociable, and just have fun with her friends! If you can make them enjoy your company, getting your "target’s" approval will be a piece of cake.

This is also where it’s good to go with girls in the same social network as you…you already have the approval of mutual friends. The book, Sex in America, says that 60% of married couples meet through friends, work, or mutual activities. That's pretty impressive! So it pays to use and expand your network. Social Science - The Top 5 Social Skills You Need to Attract Women
It’s a fact: If you want to score with hot babes, you’ve gotta be the master of your domain. You have to master your social skills.

As David DeAngelo says,
"If you want to be funny, get a joke book. If you want to learn how to make a woman feel attraction for you by the way you talk to her and communicate with her, then focus what you’re going to learn on CREATING AND AMPLIFYING ATTRACTION."

One example is teasing a girl in front of her friends. A guy who has the balls to say, "Man, does this girl EVER shut up?" or "Is she always this annoying?" to a girl’s group of friends, commands awesome power. He will quickly fit into the group, make them laugh, and come off as a very cool, attractive guy, all in one.

Why? Because doing something ballsy and somewhat rude makes people remember you. 2. Story-Telling
Work on your story-telling as much as possible. A guy who can captivate an audience with awesome stories that draw listeners in impresses the HELL out of women and makes himself very attractive. It’s a combination of power, intelligence, and social maneuvering, all in one: a very attractive combination.

But you don’t have to have travelled around the world or scaled Mt. Everest to have an impressive story; what it all comes down to is how you present your story. As David DeAngelo says,

Say you have to go check on your friends or go somewhere else.
For example, if you’ve told a great story that has everyone laughing, leave just when they’re all cracking up. Show that your universe is so big that you have bigger things to do. 4. Vocal Celibacy
This is an excellent, oft-overlooked skill that attraction expert, Carlos Xuma, recommends.
Ever notice how women, and even men, flock to the guys who sympathize and listen to them?
Well, you don’t have be a soft, Dr. Phil type to be a good listener. By pausing for a few seconds after someone says something, making them wait for you to respond, you make them feel uneasy, expecting…and, in the case of women, more attracted to you. Women in Transition From Post Feminism to Past Femininity

"The high level of unemployment among women, segregation in the labour market, the increasing salary gap between women and men, the lack of women present at the decision making level, increasing violence against women, the high levels of maternal and infant mortality, the total absence of a contraceptive industry in Russia, the insufficiency of child welfare benefits, the lack of adequate resources to fund current state programs - this is only part of the long list of women's rights violations." Communism was men's nightmare and women's dream, or so the left wing version goes. In reality it was a gender-neutral hell. Women under communism were, indeed, encouraged to participate in the labour force. An array of conveniences facilitated their participation: day care centres, kindergarten, daylong schools, abortion clinics. Reality was much drearier. Women, however mettlesome, groaned under the "triple burden" - work, marital expectations cum childrearing chores and party activism. They succumbed to the lure and demands of the (stressful and boastful) image of the communist "super-woman". This martyrdom - now threatened by the dual Western imports, capitalism and feminism - served as a fountain of self-esteem and a source of self-worth in otherwise gloomy circumstances.

Yet, the communist inspired workplace revolution was not complemented by a domestic one. Women's traditional roles - so succinctly summarized by Bismarck with Prussian geniality as "kitchen, children, church" - survived the modernizing onslaught of scientific Marxism. It is true that power shifted within the family unit ("The woman is the neck that moves the head, her husband"). But the "underslippers" (as Czech men disparagingly self-labeled) still had the upper hand. In short, women were now subjected to onerous double patriarchy, both private and public (the latter propagated by the party and the state). It is not that they did not value the independence, status, social interaction and support networks that their jobs afforded them. But they resented the lack of choice (employment was obligatory) and the parasitic rule of their often useless husbands. As a result, they felt exploited and abused. Small wonder women voted overwhelmingly for right wing parties post communism.

Yet, even after the demise of communism, Western feminism failed to take root in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The East Coast Amazons from America and their British counterparts were too ideological, too Marxist, too radical and too men-hating and family-disparaging to engender much following in the just-liberated victims of leftist ideologies. Hectoring, overly-politicized women were a staple of communism - and so was women's liberation. Women in CEE vowed: "never again".

Moreover, the evaporation of the iron curtain lifted the triple burden as well. Women finally had a choice whether to develop a career and how to balance it with family life. Granted, economic hardship made this choice highly theoretical. Once again, women had to work to make ends meet. Communism left behind it a legal infrastructure incompatible with a modern market economy. There were no women's media of any kind (TV or print). No university offered a gender studies program or had a women's studies department. Communism was interested in women (and humans) as means of production. Communism believed that the restructuring of class relations will resolve all other social inequities. Feminism properly belonged to the spoiled, brooding women of the West - not to the bluestockings of communism. Ignoring problems was communism's way of solving them. Thus, there was no official unemployment in the lands of socialism - or drugs, or AIDS, or unhappy women. To borrow from psychodynamic theories, Communism never developed "problem constancy".

To many, women included, communism was about the perversion of the "natural order". Men and women were catapulted out of their pre-ordained social orbits into an experiment in dystopy. When it ended, post communism became a throwback to the 19th century: its values, mores and petite bourgeois aspirations. In the exegesis of transition, communism was interpreted as an aberration, an interruption in an otherwise linear progress. It was cast as a regrettable historical accident or, worse, a criminal endeavour to be vehemently disowned and reversed.

Yet again women proved to be the prime victims of historical processes, this time of transition. They saw their jobs consumed by male-dominated privatization and male-biased technological modernization. Men in the CEE are 3 times more likely to find a job, 60-80% of all women's jobs were lost (for instance in the textile and clothing industries) and the highest rates of unemployment are among middle aged and older women ("unemployment with a female face" as it is called in Ukraine). Women constitute 50-70% of the unemployed. And women's unemployment is probably under-reported. Most unrecorded workers (omitted from the official statistics) are women. Where retraining is available (a rarity), women are trained to do computer jobs, mostly clerical and low skilled.

In many countries, women are asked to waive their rights under the law, or even to produce proof of sterilization before they get a job. The only ray of light is higher education, where women's participation actually increased in certain countries. But this blessing is confined to "feminine" (low pay and low status) professions. Vocational and technical schools have either closed down entirely or closed their gates to women. Even in feminized professions (such as university teaching), women make less than 20% of the upper rungs (e.g., full professorships). The tidal wave of the rising cost of education threatens to drown this trend of women's education. Studies have shown that, with rising costs, women's educational opportunities decline. Families prefer to invest - and rationally so - in their males.

Women witnessed the resurgence of nostalgic nationalism, neo traditionalism and religious revival - social forces which sought to confine them to home, hearth, spouse and children and to "liberate" them from the "forced labour" of communism. Negative demographic trends (declining life expectancy and birth rate, numerous abortions, late marriage, a high divorce rate, increasing suicide rate) conspired to provoke a "we are a dying nation" outcry and the inevitable re-emphasis of the woman's reproductive functions. Fierce debates about the morality of abortion erupted in bastions of Catholic fundamentalism (such as Poland and, to a lesser degree, Lithuania) as well as in citadels of rational agnosticism, such as the Czech Republic. Curiously, prostitution and women trafficking were accepted as inevitable. Nationalism allocates distinct and mutually exclusive roles to men and women. Capitalism encourages the formation of impregnable male elites, disseminates new technologies mainly to male monopolies, eliminates menial and low skilled (women's) jobs and puts emphasis on masculine traits such as aggression and competitiveness. No wonder female political representation in parliaments and governments diminished dramatically since 1989. When powerless, under communism, CEE parliaments were stacked with women. The few that infiltrated these august institutions are relegated to "soft" committees (social issues, usually) devoid of budgets and of influence. It is very much like under communism when the decision making party echelons were predominantly male. The only influential women then were dissidents but they seem to have rejected the fruit of their labour, democracy, in favour of tranquility and peace of mind - or to have been usurped by an emerging male establishment. Despite an education in economics, they are under-represented among business executives, the owners of privatized enterprises and the beneficiaries of favourable pay regulations and tax systems.

This erosion of their economic base coupled with the drastic decreases in child benefits, in the length of maternal leave, in the number of public and, thus, affordable child care facilities and in other support networks led to a swift deterioration in the social status and leverage of women. With their only effective contraceptive - abortion - restricted, maternal mortality exploded. So did teenage pregnancy - a result of the curtailing or absence of sex education. The rate of sexually transmitted diseases went through the roof. Violence against women - rape, spousal abuse, date rape - became epidemic. So did skyrocketing street prostitution. Widowed women - an ever more common phenomenon in CEE - are destitute and reduced to begging as the pensions of the lucky ones are ground to nil by a rising cost of living and IMF prodded stinginess. There are also more quotidian problems (often neglected by the media hungry and soundbite craving feminists) like pitiful divorce maintenance payments or decrepit maternity wards in crumbling hospitals.

Yet, women's reaction to all this was notable in its absence. After decades of forced activism and imposed altruism, the imported Western individualism mutated in CEE to malignant egotism. A sliver of the female population did well in local government and as entrepreneurs. The rest (especially the old, the rural, the less educated) stayed at home and seemed to fancy this novel experience of dependence. A generational divide emerged. Younger women discovered the joys of conspicuous consumption and mind numbing pop "culture". They constituted the masses of career opportunists, the new managerial class, shareholders and professionals - a pale imitation of the yuppies of America. Older women retreated - heaving a sigh of relief - into home and family, seeking refuge from the intrusion of tedious public matters. Economic realities still forced them to seek a job and steady income (often in a family business or in the informal economy, with no job security or regulated labour conditions) but their activism vanished into newfound and demonstrative reclusiveness.

Yet, even the young entrepreneurs often fare badly. They lack the necessary business skills, the knowledge, the supportive infrastructure, or the access to credit. The older women cannot work long hours, lack skills and, when officially employed, are expensive, due to the burden of the still effective social benefits. Thus, women can be mostly found in services, light industry and agriculture - the most non lucrative sectors of the dilapidated economies of CEE. Under communism, women felt as exhausted and as guilt-ridden as they feel today. Juvenile delinquency, a high divorce rate, single motherhood and parasitic fathers were all swept under the ideological carpet by communism. Even communism's only achievement - the inclusionary workforce - was an elaborately crafted illusion for consumption by wide-eyed Western intellectuals. In the agrarian societies which preceded communism, women worked no less. And women were not allowed to work night time or shifts or in certain jobs, nor were they paid as much as men in equal functions. Job advertising is sex-specific and sexist to this very day (in stark violation of dead letter Constitutions).

Discarding the baby with the leaking bathtub has been a hallmark of transition. Communism has done a lot for women (one of its very rare achievements). The day of CEE feminism will come.

Heat Waves Due from Brazil this Swimsuit Season
If you've passed a swimsuit hanging on a rack, or touched on a swimwear website, you've probably noticed that Brazil is leaving no stone unturned on the beach scene this year.
Why the focus on Brazil? You'll find the answer in a bikini-sized history lesson. In short, Brazil is urbane: almost every Brazilian lives in the fast-paced city. Tack on Brazil's legacy from Europe -- a love for high fashion that borders on religion. Now let's return to America. We've done and redone the triangle-top and string bottom. Enter Brazil, drenched in the big, heady spirit of the sixties, and the international goddesses that drove it. Think Brigitte Bardot.
1. The Colors
Just like other areas of the fashion scene, the Brazilian retrospective combines modern colors and fabric tech with unmistakable hues from the Sixties. This means bright, bright plastic white, cocktail black, and clashing fluorescents. And touches of vinyl and metal. And Mod.
The old triangle top, always meant for the small-busted woman, starts to look a little blah compared to the womanly styles from Brazil, like low-slung "hipster" bottoms (especially beguiling when combined with kicky belts). You'll find Brazilian tops emphasizing larger busts, with stabilizing lace-ups or underwire support.

2. The Textures
My favorite thing about Brazilian styles are the textures, which seem exotic in our post-production, plasticized world. Brazil knows that women love the softer side of sexy -- the kind that never shows up in beer commercials.

Instead of vying for minimal coverage, Brazil uses high-tech savvy to weave water-friendly crochet and macramé into swim tops and bottoms. We love the macramé-strung bikini bottoms -- sometimes adorned by brassy buttons or shells. And we love the giant embroidered flowers (touched up with crystals), the French knots, and the hand-painted fabrics that show up on tops. Wear it on the beach, then wear it again at the lounge. A feminine, crocheted top over a bikini bottom is the kind of look that hits the Richter scale.
